I have been chasing the Northern Lights in Iceland for many years, and running this site for the fourth season in a row now. My forecast here below is based on experience and data from sources that I find reliable.
Activity October 1st: Activity is moderate to high. Earth is still passing through a solar storm that is likely to light up the sky tonight.
Cloud cover forecast for October 1st. Clouds will are likely to cover parts of the sky in most parts of the country tonight. The best chance of clear skies is on the East Coast late tonight. Check here for your area.
Overall forecast for October 1st. Aurora sightings are likely in the East of Iceland tonight where clouds allow visibilty up to the sky, but clouds are likely to cover the view in most other parts of the country.

Aurora Sightings can not always be guaranteed, so why not mix it up with glacier hike, lobster dinner or other fun activities?
