Aurora forecast for the next couple of days
This week starts off with clear skies over almost all of Iceland on Monday night and aurora activity is predicted between 3 and 4 out of 9. Moderate activity but sufficient to produce some nice aurora, on the North horizon. That gives us good hope that aurora will be visible over most of the country on Monday night.
Tuseday night looks good for the South and South-East part of Iceland. Aurora activity will also be moderate, 3 on the Kp-index, giving us a good hope to see the aurora from the South and South-East.
Wednesday night seems to have even a bit stronger activity when a solar storm arrives from a Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) that erupted from the sun yesterday. This is likely to produce some beautiful aurora. With the weather forecast that we have right now, the best visibilty for that will be from the South-East, but it is still a bit too soon to tell if it will be the only place in the country where you can expect to see the aurora.
Happy aurora hunting!
